Question:
I’ve been training for 6 months and I’m really consistent, but I was told by a gym friend that it’s not good to lift everyday and that I should take a day off in between. Should I rest my muscles? (Samantha, Amityville)

Answer:
I’ll break it down basically for you. Total body weight training should not be done everyday. It doesn’t allow time for the muscle tissue to recuperate and it could lead to overtraining and possible injuries.

Cardio can be done on off days as with abdominal work. But there should be at least one day off to keep your focus and intensity level up without burning out. More could be less.
